What You'll Learn and Make
This is a relaxing, beginner-friendly session, so there's no need to have tried embroidery before. I'll guide you through the fundamentals of working with both natural and paper raffia, and you'll get to choose from a range of vibrant colours as you stitch your own tropical hoop art.
You'll have a choice between two designs - a hibiscus flower or a monstera leaf - allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day. Everything you need will be provided, including full instructions, so if you don't quite finish in the session, you'll be able to take it home and complete it in your own time.
Raffia embroidery is a craft I developed, inspired by traditional Caribbean straw crafts, and I'll share more about my story and inspirations in the workshop. It's a lovely way to combine making with learning something new about Caribbean heritage.
Do I Need an Admission Ticket as Well?
Yes, your workshop ticket covers your place in the session, but you'll also need a separate admission ticket to enter the Knit and Stitch Show itself.
