What is a raffia embroidery corporate workshop?
A raffia embroidery corporate workshop is a two-hour, hands-on wellbeing session where your team learns a Caribbean-inspired embroidery technique, hears the story behind the craft, and creates a finished piece they've made themselves. It's beginner-friendly, requires no prior experience, and works for teams of 8 to 25 people in person, or 5 or more online.
What the session looks like
01. Welcome
I talk about the inspiration behind raffia embroidery: the Windrush Generation, traditional Caribbean crafts, plus where raffia comes from & why I use it.
02. Demo
I guide everyone through the raffia embroidery technique step-by-step, so everyone feels ready and confident to start.
03. Making
Each person works on their own hoop at their own pace. I move around the room to provide individual support as needed.
04. Finishing
I’ll show everyone how to finish and display their hoop. Then there’s time to see what everyone has made in the session.

About Tihara Smith
I'm a London-based fashion designer, textile artist, and author. I've worked with raffia embroidery since 2017, when I developed the technique for my graduate collection inspired by the Caribbean and the Windrush Generation - one outfit from which now sits in the London Museum's permanent collection.
