What To Expect at a Workshop
You'll spend a few relaxed hours learning the raffia embroidery technique I developed whilst creating my graduate collection, inspired by my Caribbean heritage and the Windrush Generation. No experience is needed, just a willingness to try something new!
I'll guide you through every step, from your first stitch to your finished piece, in a small group where there's always time for questions. Along the way, I'll also share a little bit about the history and heritage behind the craft.
By the end, you'll leave with a beautiful handmade piece, a new creative hobby and hopefully a new appreciation for a traditional craft shaped by Caribbean heritage.

Raffia embroidery is an embroidery technique using natural raffia (a natural fibre from the raffia palm) and paper raffia to create textured, embroidered designs. I developed my own approach to it, inspired by Caribbean straw crafts and the Windrush Generation.
